Beyond A Wall

Here as some approaches to E.G.D to create visual experiences that take users through the intended narrative using The Indian Music Experience Museum, Bengaluru as a case study.

Spatial branding can be approached beyond showcasing logos and branded elements as wall graphics. Here are some experiential elements that are used as Environmental Graphic Design approaches to engage users, immerse them through the intended narrative and create memorable visual experiences.

1. Audio Visual Walls
These are projected screens or gallery rooms that showcase curated videos files, typically 3-4 minutes long It is usually used to set the context of the overall experience/brand.


2. Immersive Experience

A 360 degree audio visual experience that is curated to enhance the narrative, giving people a pause point for 5-10 minutes.

3.3D Art walls & 3D Letters

These are curated walls that provide people with visual and text cues of the overall experience or narrative.


4.Vinyl Super Graphics & Wall Murals

Super graphics are thematic or branded wall graphics that can showcase graphics or quotes to reflect the micro zones of experience. Wall Murals are Large scale artworks used as a point of focus.

5.Prop Walls

These walls showcase actual objects or props relevant to the space or experience.


6.Gallery Walls

These walls showcase images of people, posters, images relevant to the space or experience.

5.Legacy Walls

These are informative walls, usually giving people information in depth about events or people that have left an impact on the context or narrative.


6.Time-Line Walls

These are infographic walls that capture events across specific time-periods following chronological hierarchy.

7.Engagement Walls

These allow people to interact with exhibits through touch. These colour be moveable elements, game walls, doodle walls etc.


8.Photo Ops

These are instagrammable experiences allowing the user to capture themselves within the exhibit. A creative pathway, Play of Light and shadow, a ceiling feature, anything that adds a wow element to the overall experience.
